Textile Knowledge: The Fundamental Difference Between Cotton Polyester and Polyester Cotton

Polyester-cotton refers to polyester-cotton blended fabrics, which are mainly composed of polyester. Polyester-cotton blends are textiles woven with 65% - 67% polyester and 33% - 35% cotton blended yarns. Polyester-cotton cloth is commonly known as cotton.

  Features of polyester cotton:

It not only highlights the style of polyester but also the advantages of cotton fabrics. It has good elasticity and wear resistance in dry and wet conditions, stable size, small shrinkage rate, and has the characteristics of tall and straight, not easy to wrinkle, easy to wash, and quick drying. Can not be ironed at high temperature and soaked in boiling water.

  Disadvantages of polyester cotton:

The polyester fiber in polyester cotton is a hydrophobic fiber, which has a strong affinity for oil pollution, is easy to absorb oil pollution, and is easy to generate static electricity during wearing and absorb dust, which is difficult to wash, and cannot be ironed at high temperature and soaked in boiling water.

  Classification of polyester and cotton:

Customers who often buy shirts know that the fabrics of many shirts are marked with polyester cotton or cotton polyester. "Polyester cotton" and "cotton polyester" change the order of the two words into two different fabrics. "Polyester cotton" fabric means that the composition of polyester accounts for more than 60%, and the composition of cotton is less than 40%; "cotton polyester" is just the opposite, which means that the composition of the surface is more than 60%, and the composition of polyester is less than 40%.

So, which of the two fabrics, "polyester cotton" and "cotton polyester", is better? This depends on the customer's preferences and actual needs. In other words, if you want the fabric of a shirt to have more characteristics of polyester, choose "polyester cotton", and if you want more characteristics of Myanmar, choose "cotton polyester".

Polyester-cotton is a mixture of polyester and cotton, which is not as comfortable to the touch as cotton. Wearing and not as good as cotton to absorb sweat. Polyester is a major variety of synthetic fibers with high yield. Polyester has multiple trade names, and "polyester" is the trade name of my country. The chemical name is polyethylene terephthalate, which is usually polymerized from chemicals, so the scientific name often bears "poly". Polyester is also called polyester. Structure and properties: The structural shape is determined by the spinneret hole. The cross section of conventional polyester is round and has no middle cavity. By changing the cross-sectional shape of the fiber, special-shaped fibers can be made. Improve brightness and cohesion. The fiber macromolecule has high crystallinity and orientation, so the fiber has high strength (20 times that of viscose fiber) and good friction resistance. Good elasticity and not easy to wrinkle, good crispness and shape retention, good light resistance and heat resistance, quick drying and no ironing after washing, good washing and wearable performance.

Polyester is a chemical fiber fabric, which is not easy to sweat. It feels like a thorn to the touch, it is easy to generate static electricity, and it looks bright diagonally.

Polyester-cotton blended fabric is a variety developed in my country in the early 1960s. The fiber has the characteristics of crisp, smooth, fast-drying and durable, and is deeply loved by consumers. At present, the blended variety has developed from the original ratio of 65% polyester to 35% cotton to 65:35, 55:45, 50:50, 20:80 and other blended fabrics in different proportions. The purpose is to meet the needs of consumers at different levels.
